Find the Interesting facts related to Research Paper, LOR and many more in the upcoming Stanzas.

One research paper is enough or many are needed to be published?

A master’s degree is not necessarily a research degree. Unless you are planning on taking up a research assistantship (RA) or doing a PhD further ahead, it’s not mandatory to have research experience but it is definitely recommended. Your application carries more weight if you have relevant research experience because you can carry forward your research at the university and thereby add value.

Having one paper published is very good and increases your chances of receiving an RA which is a form of scholarship provided to you all 12 months in a year. The amount given to you depends on the professor you are working under and is usually a good sum.

Also, it is highly recommended that you pick a field of interest and do research in its relevant topics rather than pick up many diverse fields. You should also emphasize your learning and inferences from it in your Statement of Purpose (SOP) because it highlights your main reason for studying an MS at your target universities.

If I have an average CGPA (.> 8.00) should I explain the reason behind such score or just don’t mention this point in SOP?

Your SOP should be concise and yet should provide a full picture about you as a candidate. So only the most significant part of your life has to be provided in your SOP which can include your awards, academic competitions that you have won or international conferences in which your papers have been published or you can even talk about your performance appraisal done by your company and what has been your result compared to your colleagues in the company. These aspects will help the admission committee use them as a way to compare your profile with your peers. This is especially the case with MBA universities since they look at various aspects that makes you stand out in your demographic i.e same age group, industry etc. Since MBA universities receive applications from a diverse applicant pool, they use SOP as a way to differentiate candidates. You only need to address GPA if you have got awards because of it or if it is ridden with backlogs in core subjects. In the latter situation, you have to communicate in such a way that you have overcome those situations which caused these backlogs to happen through learning and how you have improved since that situation. With a GPA more than 8 you don’t need to worry about it because your transcripts or resume will take care of co

Which of the LOR has the highest value?

Getting LOR from a person who has pursued an MS/PhD from abroad or IITs is considered to be very credible. So if you have studied under some professor who has done a MS/PhD abroad, you can get an LOR from them. In fact if that person happens to be an Alumni from that respective university, it can really help your chances.

If i am doing a project in industry how it will be if they send a LOR?

Getting an LOR from the industry is very valuable! You need to have a minimum of three LORs to add weight to your application. You need to get one from a professor or HOD you’ve worked with, for example, you can take an LOR from your project guide in the final year. You can also get LORs from employers under whom you have worked such as internships etc. These LORs are a testament to the qualities you claim to have in your SOP by a third person in a professional setting.

If you get an LOR from a person of higher authority for the project you’ve worked in, it should talk about your work and how you contributed to the overall end result of the project. It can also talk about the good personality traits that helped you achieve these results.

When combined with a convincing SOP, these LORs make the difference that gets you universities admit!
